…when you’ve written out a nice, neat lesson plan that looks beautifully sequential and easy to follow.
And then you know that as soon as you walk into the classroom the lesson plan will matter less than you think, and it will be time to improvise.
I sometimes wonder if the same traits that make good stand-up comedians can also make good teachers, and vice versa (if said teacher has a good sense of humor, which is practically a job requirement anyway).

My district uses CSCOPE curriculum which uses the 5E model of instruction, and gives exemplar lessons (most of the time). The 3rd grade science experiments have been less than engaging so far. I really want ideas like these not only to engage my students, but to have them never forget what they’ve learned.
